Ravensbourne Light Operatic Society
It may appear that things have been quiet since the success of Oliver! but a lot has been going on behind the scenes. Caroline Ayling’s tap classes have proved very successful for all levels of dancing and classes have been well attended. Our thanks go to Caroline for all her hard work. Jane Kerfoot organised a wonderful musical soiree at Ripley in July which was well supported. Hopefully something similar can be organised in the future!
It was with regret that we eventually made the decision not to proceed with a show at the Bob Hope Theatre this autumn. There were several factors which made the committee take this decision and we look forward to getting everyone together again at the harmony workshop and AGM on October 8th (see below). We hope to see as many as possible at the AGM – this is your chance to express any opinions and ideas you may have for the Society.
Our next show at The Churchill will be Crazy For You in the week starting 7 April 2008. The production team is: Jane Kerfoot (Director), Bob Henty (Musical Director) and Caroline Ayling (Choreographer). The schedule is as follows:
Monday Oct 8th 8:00 to 9:15 harmony workshop with Bob Henty, followed by AGM
Monday Oct 15th 8:00 to 9:30 harmony workshop
Monday Nov 12th 8:00 First Crazy For You get-together
Wednesday Nov 14th 7:45 work on music and dance auditions
Monday Nov 19th 7:45 auditions for new people to join RLOS
Wednesday Nov 21st 7:45 work on music and dance auditions
Monday Nov 26th 7:45 closed auditions for roles for current paid-up members
Wednesday Nov 28th 7:45 dance auditions
Monday Dec 3rd 7:45 open auditions for roles
Wednesday Dec 5th 7:45 to 10:00 first rehearsal, full call, venue to be announced
The venue is the Victory Social Club, Kechill Gardens, Hayes, BR2 7NH
(subsequent rehearsals will probably be at a different venue, TBA).
We will also hold stage fighting workshop on Sunday Jan 6th, details TBA.
All are welcome at the workshops, whether or not you’re in Crazy For You.
In line with the Society’s constitution, only current paid-up members can take part in the closed auditions on
Monday Nov 26th, not people joining on Monday Nov 19th.
